Hatch release switch / third brake light
Third brake light (TBL) wiring is Yellow and black via the "contact plate" correct?
The black wire goes to the hatch release solenoid?
Or should it go to ground?
Is there a correlation between the TBL and Hatch Assembly that I'm not seeing on any wiring diagrams that have been posted?
I have a 87 TA, 5.0L 4bbl
thanks,
ART

I think it depends on the year. I have a 90 and it is purple.

Re: Hatch release switch / third brake light
So there might be a relation depending on the year?
It doesn't make sense that the TBL woyuld share wiring with hatch solenoid...
That would mean, every time the brakes are pressed the hatch would open.
I really need pix of someones stock setup in a 1987 TA

Re: Hatch release switch / third brake light
I think I found my problem.
I spliced solenoid black to black wire of TBL.
The black wire that should have gone to solenoid is mounted to ground.
So every time I hit hatch release i blow a ctsy fuse.
I have to find solenoid wire from hatch relay that is mounted to ground and splice to solenoid.
Then I need to ground black wire of TBL.
I wish they would have made other color than black for solenoid
Thanks all
