VATS / PassKey Bypass Success Story

Friends,

I recently purchased a 1992 RS 305 TBI, A/T that the previous owner had installed a truck(?) ECM due to a PassKey fault. Vehicle ran like crap. very rich (like burn your eyes), poor shifting, idled at 1500 RPM so that it pulled hard against the brakes.

I never have found the PassKey module connector, but I have the module itself in my hand (removed by previous owner who refused after the sale to accept my phone calls).

What do I do now? No one could help me find the module mounting location, so I could not locate the connector. One of our brothers mentioned Baker Electronics as a source of a bypass module.

READ CAREFULLY HERE... Contact WWW. BAKER ELECTONIX. COM... I purchased their Dual Signal PassKey Bypass Module, Now my RS STARTS AND RUNS JUST FINE.

Just remember that your ECM will go through a new learning curve, keep the RPM's up, Mine ran fine within 5 minutes.

I hope this might help any of you out there with this confusing problem,

Shiny Side Up,
Tim

Re: VATS / PassKey Bypass Success Story

The thought behind the passkey system was a nice idea from gm.... I guess they thought these cars wouldnt last long enough to have problems with it! LOL, glad to hear you were able to figure it out!
