Re: Starter ground
i just got over this problem with my 84 mine had a black metal bracket that went from the starter and mounted to the passengers side of the block i couldnt get it to line up after a new starter so i just used and old battery cable and ran it from the post on the starter and grounded to a bolt on the frame works fine so far.

Re: Starter ground
the starter is bolted to the ground, the block!
There should be a grounding strap from the passengerside head to the firewall, and the negative form the battery should be bolted to the block somewhere.
