H4, H1...I'm confused!
which bulbs do we need in a HID set-up...I'm confused as to the naming of these bulbs! What's the difference..H4, H6, H1......what do I need to get? I see all sorts of descriptions for the HID, but nothing about the bulb types! Help.....
Re: H4, H1...I'm confused!
HIDs are not H anything, technically. HIDs are D2S and D2R. They are just differnt styles of bulbs, basically. Differnt mounts, differnt plugs, etc.
If you want to do a HID retrofit you need to buy a set of non-sealed lenses and then buy a HID "retrofit" kit that matches the bulb types that the non-sealed lenses have.

I got these H4's but they have a half-shield in them..how does this work? It seems that the shield would block the light from one side.....I think I have the wrong bulbs...

That is an H4 bulb. The sheild does block light, but that's what it's supposed to do. If you look at a normal H4 bulb, inside right by the low beam filament is a sheild to cut down the amount of light bouncing off the lower part of the housing and being thrown upwards that blinds people. Usually those sheilds are removable if you want to see what happens without it.

The shield moves to allow different light patterns for the Hi and Low beam, it needs to be there.

Along these same lines.....does one just make a harness to wire the ballasts to the camaro headlight plug? Or does someone make a harness?

My kit came with a harness, the sheild moves automaticly when you turn the Hi beams on or off. Contact where you got your kit and ask them if they have the correct harness for your kit.
