It looks like a (cheap) washer. I have no idea where it goes.

Re: URGENT! What the hell is that..

Looks like its part of the main power feed that connects to the back of the starter. Goes on the big terminal where the battery positive goes. Those wires go over to the bulkhead connector and power the interior of the car and some other stuff...

I could be wrong though. Kind of hard to tell from the picture. The plugs and wiring changed alittle between the years, so hopefully someone else will chime in with a better answer.

If everything works, and that wire is dead (no power), I wouldnt worry about it. Tape it up and go.

Re: URGENT! What the hell is that..

After looking at my '87, I have a similar looking cable that goes from the positive battery terminal to the nut terminal on the back of the alternator.

On mine, there's an extra wire that goes to what I think is the cooling fan relay on the fender.

Re: URGENT! What the hell is that..

The closest thing to this is a main power fuse.. also test light shows that this wire should give power to the main power line.. (and it happens that I dont have power almost anywhere)
So it is from the battery..
But the question is where does the other connection goes..
Alternator? If so, would it not give to much power due to the fact that alternator is not giving 12V but more like 14V?
From what I know starter has 3 orange wires (and I do have them) and the big, big main power wire.. (which I also have, and is much bigger then this)

Re: URGENT! What the hell is that..

All cars when running have 14 volts at any battery hot wire. We need more pics because it looks left over from origanal wireing and the car is probably wired with all new stuff so you will probably just have to get rid of it or tape it up.

Here's what I think it is (see attached). The scans are from my '87 Camaro FSM; they should be the same or quite close.

The two wire connector doesn't quite fit into the equation, though. A more through description of where the other ends of the wire go would help.

It would also help greatly if you tell us what the 8th VIN character is so we know what kind of engine was in the car when it left the factory.

Re: URGENT! What the hell is that..

The engine is Vin 8, Camaro 91 TPI.. The wiring harness is from that engine, I am finishing my swap..
I cant get rid of it becouse it is (probaly)where main power should go

The first pictre shows something like it.. And it does goes to the main power fuse - that is hows mine (test light shows connection between the cut wire and a wire from a main power fuse), but it is not conenced to the positive wire, only goes.. somewhere.. ? Or do I see it wrong?

The second picture is not really my style, I was always having difficulties reading it It looks like from the battery goes a black wire to the starter solenoid only.. when in fact I know that the three orange wieres goes there too.. And the inline main fuse is between orange and red wires.. I see nothing like that there..
What I see that makes sense on that diagram is that the orange wires are, and should be powered by a power given to that red cut wire
There are thos C144 and C145.. but I cant really guess what are those and what are between :P

I'll postsom e more pictures tommorow..

BTW. How do I connect the alternator?

Re: URGENT! What the hell is that..

Ok, I got it.
The big red wire cut from the both sides goes from the battery to alternator,
and it gives somehow through that round connector power to the wire harness.
Thank you for all your help
