Brake Lights - Always brighter then taillights with lights on
Brake Lights - Always brighter then taillights with lights on
Hi all. My bird's brake lights are brighter then the taillights when the parkers or headlights are on and no brake pedal applied. The 3rd brake light does not come on until the brake pedal is depressed.
Is this a common fault? What should I look for to rectify this?
Cheers in advance.

My husband's Cav had this problem...only they wouldn't turn off..ever...even with the car off. His was a switch under the brake pedal. Yours sounds like it might be something similar. Check and make sure they're not staying on all the time!

Definately not on all the time. Could be as simple as the wrong wattage bulbs. Will have to check it when I get home in 3 weeks. If not I'll search out the wiring and switches.
Cheers.

Depending on the year of your car there may be two brake switches. One is for the brake lights the other is for the cruise control and the third brake light. Sound like the previous is stuck.
