Universal Cruise Control

I've seen these Audiovox CCS-100 Universal Cruise Control kits on Ebay all the time and was wondering if anyone has ever installed one or a similar one?

Was it a royal pain or pretty simple? Did it actually work?

Re: Universal Cruise Control

I have put in dozens of aftermarket cruise controls. The do work o.k. and are not real difficult to hook-up. You will need to locate the speed sensor wire in your car, (provided you have an electronic spedometer dark) brake wire, ignition, power, and ground. You will also have to hook up a vacuum line, mount a vacuum canister, and the cruise unit under the hood. Hooking up the cruise's throttle cable can be a little tricky but usually goes rather smoothly. The throttle cable MUST be hooked up properly as it could fail and hold throttle open. There is also the control stick that gets mounted to the steering column. For a few bucks more an aftermarket turn signal handle with the cruise controls in it can be purchased.

this is what ill be using on mine...

this one comes with the adapter that gives a cable driven speedo the electric signal you need. also, no vacuum canister and you can get the "stock" switch assembly that replaces your turn signal handle.

hmmmm......I never realized they made such a simple system for carb car. I am assuming these are for carbureted vehicles. If it is so, can they fit on any brand of carb?
