Code 23 and found Wires left unplugged after Swap
I trusted someone who told me they could handle swapping a 88 L98 into a 87 that had a LB9. Didnt go to well. Had to take it to another shop to complete the wiring issues that the first shop had all screwed up.
Have driven car about 3 months since getting it back from 2nd place. No problems.
About 2 weeks ago car began sputtering when it reached norm temps. Like it was not getting enough gas or air. It only happens under load.
It has progressively gotten worse. It finally cut off yesterday. Cranked right up and drove like nothing ever happened.... then a few minutes later sputtering again. So I put in nuetral, shut it off, crank right up a drove on until it started sputtering again. Its like restarting it resets something????
Checked for codes got a code 23 MAT sensor. Got to looking for this and found mine unplugged (if I indeed found the MAT) also found something else enplugged (have no idea what it is). Will post photos
Can anyone tell me where to look to plug these things in. Will this indeed cause my problems. I will likely take it to the guy that got my car on the road to trouble shoot but want to try to fix myself first.
He told me he thinks its the MAF. I have changed the fuel pump and filter, the ignition control module.

Lastly, full disclosure, I have a 2 leaks, one on the main manifold (leaking antifreeze) and the fuel rail (leaking gas). I am getting good fuel pressure but I have got to wonder if this could play into my problems any.

The wire from the MAT sensor (also called IAT sensor, but it's neither, it read the temperature of the METAL INTAKE
- good ol' Cheby) should plug into the harness behind the driver side valve cover. Look for a the other end of the plug you found.
It is also possible that the new harness didn't come with this plug so the shop simply left it unplugged (yeah, they often do crap like that).
I can't identify the second plug, that's a dark green wire, right? Hopefully somebody will chime in shortly.
The leaks should have no effect on driveability (unless you're loosing too much but then the car would not be driveable at all).
If you can put a fuel pressure on the rail and see what it shows when the car starts sputtering, that would eliminate fuel problems.
You said you already changed the ignition control module, that was acutally my first guess. So we're good here.
Does the mechanic have a spare MAF? Or do you?
Are you running a K&N dirt intake by any chance?

Just a plain old Fram air filter and stock intake.
Thanks for the tip on that MAT/IAT Plug on the way out the door as soon as I hit the Post button. Let you know what I find.

Big baby Lou can you post a pic of where that hooks in.
Ive found a plug on the drivers side where you said but its a square plug. Ill put up a pic soon. It actually looks to be the other end of the plug we cant seem to identify thats on the pass side of the car by the coil.

Sorry, no picture of the plug. It should be an oval plug, just behind the driver side valve cover.

Still looking for help!! Got a MAF on the way so I will be trying that to see if the MAF makes a diff. I still need to plug that MAT up though.
