Okay, my passenger side window is goofed up. You have to slam on the interior panel in order to "wake it up" and the window to slide back up... what could be the cause of this? I'm glad they still work, I know that's a pretty common little gremlin in our ThirdGens.

There could be a broken or frayed wire in the wire harness.Sometimes from years of opening and shutting the doors a wire will break.

Re: Power Windows

Remove the shifter plate and reach in there under the switches. The connectors tend to loosen themselves. The "slam" on your center console merely pushes down on the wires and makes a temporary contact until the car is driven over a bump and the contact is broken again.

Hope this helps.

Could be the sign of a dying motor.

Re: Power Windows

HBZ28,

by "interior panel", did you mean the door panel?
That would probably point to wires or connectors on the door locks themselves.
Sorry, I originally thought you meant the interior console panel.

Re: Power Windows

I'm having a problem with my passenger window. I lowered it about a third of the way for the day. When I was ready to raise it, it wouldn't and it won't go down any further. The driver side works fine. Is it time for a new motor?

More than likely yes. Check your connection, if all is connected to the motor and the window switch check the voltage at the connector. If that is good....new motor.

Have a lot of things on your mind LOU? You went from window connectors to door locks on a thread about power windows.

As long as we understand each other, it's good.

Thanks for the info. I decided to check the switch first and sure enough it was loose. Snapped it in and the window started to work again. I was a little scared to tackle the window motor alone. Thanks again!
