Re: what are these plugs to?

well I am guessing that this car has had the fuel injection taken off and converted to carb. the large one is the oil pressure controlled fuel pump switch, (as long as the engine has oil pressure the fuel pump stays on) the other looks like an O2 sensor plug, not sure bad picture. should have a purple wire! and if these are unplugged you must not have injection or it aint runnin right

no it still has the tpi and runs pretty good i was thinkin the big might be for the power steering because the sensor isnt there or the trans because thats where i found it hanging down there but the other im not shure its not the o2 sensor its hooked up

Re: what are these plugs to?

Macertheracer is right, the first one is for the oil pressure sender and FPOP (Fuel Pump Oil Pressure) switch. It might be unhooked possibly because the FPOP might be stuck closed, keeping the fuel pump on constantly (common fault).

The second plug looks like it goes to one of the emissions components. Which side of the engine is it on? I looks a lot like the EGR solenoid connector (by the distributor).

Hope this helps.

Re: what are these plugs to?

where is that sensor supposed to be.I have a regular oil pressure sending unit that is plugged up and the gage works fine. Also i dont have any problems with my fuel pump(as far as i know) it kicks on when i turn the key on and back off in a few seconds and runs good on the road no trouble codes or anything. The leads on the plug are very long like it would go to the trans or steering. As far as the other plug i unhooked all the smog stuff and removed any thing that went with it.The plug is on the drivers side.

The FPOP switch is normally by the oil pressure sender, on top of the block, back by the distributor, driver side. The newer blocks had it down by the oil filter.
If your fuel pump works fine, do not worry about it, it's only a backup system in case the fuel pump relay blows, in which case you don't want to be stranded 100 miles from civilization due to a bad $5 relay.
