Rear Cargo light problem?

The light in the center interior panel in the cargo area won't work and it doesn't have a switch to turn it on. I've changed the light bulb a couple of time but nothing seems to work. I've never seen it work before, has anyone had this problem and how did you fix it?

Re: Rear Cargo light problem?

Is the white wire plugged into a black with orange stripe wire? It provides the switched ground from the striker sensing switch of the pull-down unit to turn on and off the hatch light.

I'm super sleepy and incoherent at the moment so I'm probably not thinking straight.

However, if the bulb contacts both show 12 volts, I'd say you have a short some place. One side should be 12 volts, the other side ground.
