ok i just finished installing an over head console in my 86 iroc with t-tops which did NOT originally have the console.... main light orks fine, but the map light wont turn on... the switch is really tempermental.... it sticks and if you move it a bit the map light will come on.... is there ANY way of fixing the switch or am i screwed and have to buy another console???

 

PMed. Try contact cleaner. I use a brand from CarQuest, but any should work--a quick dry type would probably be best.

Does yours have the trip meter and time?
If so do you have it wired and working?

 

Those parts are mechanical.

Reviving an old thread. I have a sticking switch as well. Any other suggestions people have to fix a sticking overhead console push button switch?

 

Is the button centered around the hole? Sometimes it grinds against the housing (hole) and sticks. The switch has some "adjustment", but you may have to dismount the console and adjust the switch from behind.
