I just joined this wonderful site about a week ago and it has taught me alot .
My question is with going to carb i would like to know how these are wired to the alternator and battery . i know the one pick with the red clip goes to the distributor. just curious on how and where the other ends go. Also where is the Pink ignition wire hooked up too and at? Posting pics of my car momentarily. Thank you in advance.

you are going to have to take a better picture

 

ty much in advance 1st pics in the pick wire for the ignition, 2nd is the straight red wire that has a f link on it , the last one is a red Y wire which meets at a f link . i believe the clip on the 3rd pic goes to the Batt post on my HEI distributor .

the first pic is a pink wire and goes to your HEI

the second wire with the F link going to your starter

the third pic going to your starter to
and the wire with the connecter going to the heatercore relay and your hoodlight.

the wires are alomost on the same location there

 

so the pink goes to the bat side on my hei

the other 2 red ones goto my starter

the clip branched off i will not need because i have no heater / ac set up.

now the idiot that had the car before me really spaghetti warehoused the wiring so wheres the wiring for the 2 prong alternator and the stud for the back of the alternator or would it be easier to go with a 1 wire alternator and how do i link it in?

this is the last of the wiring i have to do to get the car completed electrically .

yes the wires what i told you is right.
if you don`t use the heater you can leave it or cut it.or you can still use it for your hood light!!

which year is your car?
the earley camaro`s use a 2 wire alternator
the later models use a 3 wire alternator and they use different collors wiring.
or u can hing it easy up by your self.

u only need a Bat wire and a ignition wire
the alternator make his ground with the engine.

you must tell some more info about your car so we can check it out for you

Bought the car for the retro fit with carb its a 89 camaro rs , the wiring was fubared but the body is solid . i took the complete ecm out .

i know the pink goes to the batt side of the hei clip, i appreciate the help with that .

the 2 red ones goto the battery,?
this is my 1 project car and curious how to wire from the batt to the red lines and how to hook up the alternator wiring as well as the starter. i know the black are grounds for body and engine .

i would like to wire the alternator as simple as possible my own way
pretty much the wiring from the batt to the hei and harness will be what should make em work right

 

yes the pink one go`s to your battery side of the HEI the other pin on your HEI is for your tach.

the 2 red ones going strait to your starter, the wires are always hot ( 12v )
look at your starter there is a big bolt you can hook up your wires there.

the alternator is simple, 1 big red wire comes from the battery to your alternator on the back side.always hot (12v)
then the plug i think you have the 3 wire plug
red : going also to your starter or just bolt it on the back of your alternator were the big red wire is loccated always hot to (12v)

tan/white wire you don`t use it anymore because you have take out the ecm.this was before a backup wire.

brown wire comes original from the c100 plug on your firewall drivers side
this is a pulse/ignition 12v wire to activate the alternator wen you push the ignition on.
there is a fuse in the fusebox for this wire 20 amp

now last ? is i no wiring for my alternator no 3 or 2 prong set up , so do i goto a junk yard and get a 2 prong wire run the red wire to the back of the alternator an the other wire ground it to the alt itself?

its a 2 prong alternator

 

please take a good picture of your alternator so i can see it.

i think they place an old style alternator on it,because the 89 hase the newer style.
cs130 alternator.

please do also a search,there is a lot of info about wiring the alternaters.

yes its the older style alternator 2 prong job so ill wire that as listed above on here ty all for the help
