I popped the hatch today to make sure there was no water leaking back there since it was sitting out in the 4 feet of snow we got this week and forgot that I don't have any power going to the hatch to close it! Is there anyway I can rig something up so I can raise the latch, then actually have the hatch close correctly?

Right now I have the engine out, and connectors every where so I'm not sure I can hook the battery back up.

Any help would be great!

To solve that problem without power unbolt the hatch motor and remove the pneumatic lifts.

It’ll take like 3 minutes.

Or put a spare battery in the trunk. Hook ground from the battery to the ground location below hte pull-down unit on the body. Disconnect the blue wire from the red/white stripe wire and hook it up to the battery. If you close it manually the hatch seal may not be compressed enough to keep out that moisture you were initially worried about.

mines never worked, ever since the day i bought it ive had to close the hatch with a good hard push, never had any moisture problems except the leaky t tops lol

 

Just so long as a hard push doesn't become a slam. There are plastic parts, (such as the clear plastic motor housing) that can and will break with too much shock. Once that happens the hatch will flop up and down because it is not properly secured.
