Honestly, I would find the problem instead of rigging the power. But, To answer your question, yes, you should keep constant power to the computer. It won't hurt anything if you don't though. It will just have to relearn everytime you drive the car.

Good advice from
1981LT1.

Sometimes the under-hood light does not go out so check that easy one first.

Then connect an ammeter in series with the battery.

(You can use a small bulb such as a side marker bulb if you don‘t have an ammeter.)

With everything turned off and doors closed observe the current flow.

Pull the fuses one at a time till you see the current drop.

That’s the circuit with the problem.

just posting so I can get updates, but by any chance do you have an amplifier hooked up? check that first if you have it hooked up to the 12v ign that supplies power to the radio... my battery drains completely after 3 days of non operation... not concerned about it ATM, but am gathering intel for when I tackle the problem...

BTW, aren't all F-Bodys already wired directly to the battery... If I remember correctly I have an orange wire I think that supplies power to the ECM, unplugged the car seems like it goes into limp mode... accelerate and you cause a backfire...

Re: power wire for computer?

Yes, the computers are wired for constant battery power, but it is a very mimimal draw. Just enough to keep the memory charged. I would check the draw by placing a DVM between the battery and the negative cable and then start removing fuses one at a time until you find the culprit. If there is no results from this test, have your alternator checked. If the diodes stay open, it will let the current flow continuously and drain the battery.
