damn fbody gremlins again!
years ago i was told fbodies had inherint electical gremlins, now after years of owning one i know em well.
this new one has got me stumped though.out of no where,my acc fuse blows.ok no biggie i keep a handful in the console.popped a new one in & less than a min later snap again.after that i checked around the wiring, nothing out of order visually.but every fuse i put in keeps popping as soon as its in.the only thing i did that day was clean the carb & lube all the hinges,so rule out something i might have done.
at first i thought i was just the dome light because when this happened it fried.i replaced that & the fuse again.same deal.
any ideas on what i should give a try?generally speaking these gremlins that stump me end up fixing themselves somehow, these are ones that a buddy i had who was a ase master tech couldnt figure out either.
so before i lose my mind trying to figure this one out,i thought it would be a better idea to ask around on here...

I had the same issue... i went from a 15amp fuse, and put a 20amp fuse, now it blows once a month... lol, i really don't know why. i'm taking a swing towards the cig lighter maybe.. but i can't pin point what the hell it is...

Re: damn fbody gremlins again!
well ive always used a 20 amp for acc, anything less popped on every car ive had.i wanna try a 25 or 30 but i'm afraid of serious problems from a overload.i did have the cig problem one tome,it wasnt the whole unit just the popper.but i changed out the whole thing anyways.i have a extra one lying around i might put in for the hell off it,but i really think its somethin else.

Re: damn fbody gremlins again!
dont start popping in larger fuses, thats how fires start.
i dont know about f-bodies haveing inherint electical gremlins, both of mine have never had issues. It has a lot to do with how the car was cared for and if the PO did any wiring on his/her own.
look up the wiring diagram and trace the circuit out one piece at a time, you will find the issue.

you are definitely right about the p/o thing.i had to fix most of the wiring when i got the car since the cat didnt know how to wire or just didnt care.i've gone thru all the wiring to be & theres no issues there.not exactly a fine tooth comb but ran the length to check for any cracks/splits & cleaned the grounds.
you are lucky you have no issues of the inherent type.i'm sure it may have been just "friday cars" or depending on the plant when it comes to these things.almost every owner ive met had similar issues to ones ive experienced, could be some sections fatigue easy.f bodys imo are really well built, just a few achilles heels though but then again which car dosent
