I take it you have a 4th gen? so with that being said, you do realize that this is a 3rd gen forum, right? well the module on a 4th gen is located behind the front vents, you need to connect two pins with a jumper, or something... you'll have to visit LS1tech.com...

something new I learned.. my apologies..

well apparently according to this post, your feature is a Canadian safety feature, one of which I was not aware of... if you disable it in Canada you could be cited...

To disable that nonsense unplug the sensor and connect a 1KΩ resistor across the leads of the newly disconnected wires.

wish i know what a 1k resistor is, i have no idea....but thanks anyways, thought there was an easier way...and does this involve removing the dash?

Yep. The Canadian exports had this done. No U.S.A. market cars got this new.

Go to your local electronics supply store (easiest in the USA would be Radio Shack) and ask for a 1k resistor. Chances are you'll hafta buy a strip of at least 5-10, but they are real cheap anyways, so no big deal.

It is as easy as finding the 2 correct wires, snipping them & connecting each wire to opposite ends of the resistor. Resistors are 1-way-direction devices, so you have to keep the correct wire on the correct end. Should it not work, simply flip the resistor over & connect each wire to the other end.

If it STILL doesn't make sense, ask the sales person at the supply store. Tell him/her what we've said & they can help you out pretty easily.

ok the 2 wires are they the sensor wires? is that what goes into the sensor on the dash, just 2 wires? and then ill hook up the K1 resistor? and do i need to remove the dash pad for that? if yes then how do i take it off? thanks again

Re: How do you bypass the headlights sensor on the dash?

I've never seen a Canadian 3rd gen & its sensor, so can't really give specifics on the sensor itself, but all the dashes will be mounted the same.

But to pull the dash pad, if that is where the sensor is at......

There are screws in the vents up front & screws under the front lip. Not ALL the screws under the lip have to come out. Some hold the dash face in, some hold the dash pad down. Once you start looking under there, it becomes obvious which ones are for the dash pad & which ones are for the dash face.

If the sensor has a plug you can reach & unplug, you can "plug in" (insert) the legs of resistor into the plug & use electrical tape to hold the resistor in place securely.

Re: How do you bypass the headlights sensor on the dash?

I always drive with my parking lights & fog lights on anyways, & it is hassle to hafta flip the switch every time. I actually want them to be wired up as key on = lights on. But have the headlights on their own manual switch. obviously.

A sensor like that would work for me, if I could get it to turn all of them on.

Resistors are not one way devices, I think you are referring to a diode. None the less, the procedure is the same, and will work in either direction

No doubt that your right.....Been awhile since I've done much with electronic components, other than the STS. Even then, I wasn't building the boards so.... .
Thanks for clarifying it up. Makes it even easier to do.
