no voltage at ignition module

car ran fine the other day, then i removed the manifold to check the valvetrain. i tightened the driver side valve cover back down on a pigtail and broke the wire. bought another pigtail and got no spark when i tried to crank the motor. checked the coil and it seemed to test bad so i got a new one. same result. ignition module tested bad, bought a new one, same result. theres no voltage output from the module, and with it being new, im stumped concerning whatever the problem is.

Re: no voltage at ignition module

check all fuses may have popped when wires grounded out on pigtail.also make sure ground wires on back cyl. head are ok.

Re: no voltage at ignition module

All the fuses are good, and all the grounds are good. The ignition module i bought was bad so I bought another one that tested good. Having the same problem again.Another thing, I no longer have the HEI ignition. The module just has one plug coming from the ECM and the pigtail coming from the primary coil. And I forgot to mention that the other day I disconnected the ECM plug from the module and the car started, it just idled so low you couldnt even hear it running unless I gave it some gas, and even then it loped really bad. But it wouldn't start with the ECM plugged into the module. So after that I put in a spare ECM that I had, connected the ECM plug to the module and it cranked up. I'm wondering if something is wrong the the ECM that would cause it not to fire. Any ideas?

ECM Condem

The part of the ECM which controls timing went bad.

Try changing the Ignition Condenser,Usually wires seems to pop out of it when it gets pretty old
Same thing happened to me too

Re: no voltage at ignition module

I went through all the hassle of replacing the ignition switch to get nowhere, although I probably did need to replace it because it had burned up the plug in it. I've pretty much narrowed it down to the ECM. And that's what I thought it was all along. The ECM has something to do with startup right? If that's the case then that has to be it, considering that it started up without the ECM plugged in but wouldn't start with it plugged in. I have one that will be at O'Reilly tomorrow morning.

If a new ECM doesn't change anything, I've lost all hope.
