Fuse Blowing

So i've been having this problem lately, whenever i put a fuse into the accessories slot it sparks. So to install a fuse i removed my negative cable from my battery and then put the fuse it and reconnected the cable, this works for roughly an hour before the fuse blows again. The fuse is the right amps or wattage. What is my problem? Should i run a bigger fuse?

Fuse Ruse

You have something drawing too much current or an intermittent short.

Check the “cigarette” lighter to make sure it’s not shorting.

Wiggle the wires in that area.

If that circuit is OK then check the wires going to the underhood light, dome light, and map lights.

Happy Racing!

Re: Fuse Ruse

If it's the lighter you want to remove or diagnose, you have to first remove panel under driver side. 5 t-27 torx bolts/screws I believe. Then remove tiny screws attaching bottom of gauge cluster trim and gently pop the top portion loose. Won't come all the way off unless you take off light ****, but not necessary to.Reach around behind the lighter and unhook connector. Unscrew back part of lighter and the front pulls out. You can just leave this disconnected and if that solves the problem then just reverse steps to replace. Good luck

Re: Fuse Ruse

I have sorta the same problem with my cig lighter. If i try and use the actual cig lighter (i dont smoke so thats never) it will blow the fuse. I can use it for my phone charger without a problem though.

Re: Fuse Blowing

I just fixed the same issue with my car. I replaced the cigarette lighter and haven't had any problems since. I can even use my cell phone charger not without blowing the fuse.

If its not the cigarette lighter, that fuse also powers the hatch motor.
