Berlinetta blinker problem!
Berlinetta blinker problem!
I'm typing this from the parking lot at work, trying to figure out what the problem is...
I haven't driven the car in 2 weeks, been on vacation. This morning on the way to work, blinkers worked fine. Now 3 hours later they don't at all. I can hear the relays in the light module tripping, and I tried to swap some relays too. The 4 ways DO work. I checked the fuse, its good too.
Any ideas, anyone with Berlinetta experience? John I know you're out there!

Troubleshot it at the auto parts store. It wasn't the flasher, so I kept fiddling with the relays in the light module. While the left and right turn signal relays were fine, the "flasher select" relay was the culprit. Problem solved!

You need to be on my xmas list. My daughter's hazards wouldn't shut off this morning. Less than five minutes of 'search' and maybe fifteen minutes swapping relays around: "flasher select" relay. I'da spent all day otherwise. Thanks for posting back your solution, not everyone does.

Glad my faulty electronics helped you! I have numerous issues with the dash and light module since I've owned the car (1 year to the month!) but it has been a reliable daily driver to and from work. I've been able to figure most of it out myself, and I do have a few more issues to tackle.
I've thought about just ripping out the dash and wiring and putting a standard dash in, but I like the digital stuff too much to pull the trigger.

Re: Berlinetta blinker problem!
Argh. It wasn't the relay. Apparently in swapping the relay it powered down the circuit and turned it 'off'. Further playing shows that the relay only controls the speed of the 'blinking'. With the relay on 'turn signal' speed the hazards will blink double-time, as mine were doing it. So some electronic part was commanding hazard and the hazard select relay wasn't getting the signal-so it's probably not coming from the pod.

I am having same problem ,no turn sigs ,but i have hazards I found only 1 frlasher under dash there is a place for another one only its just slots there is no wiring behind it ? what is the flasher select you are mentioning ?

Re: Berlinetta blinker problem!
The flasher select relay switches between two 'flasher' relays-turn signal and hazard. The hazards flash at half-speed (because both sides are flashing) and can be energized with ignition off. The turn signals flash double time (only one side flashing) and ignition must be on.
What is your particular problem. I've yet to resolve mine. It remains intermittent, goes away when the relay is pulled, and no other lights work when it occurs.

On my berlinetta the turn signal contacts on the circut board broke in two, just a thought, i ended up desodering 2 that wherent nessesary to replace them. I have been having all kinds of trouble with my digital stuff. Maybe I'm just blind but I have found no relays, where might one find the relays on the berlinetta? Headlight relay in particular, when I start the car the headlights come on by themselves after a couple of seconds and try as I might they will not shut off, wich wouldn't be a problem but my dimmer is jacked up and blinkers stop after one or 2 blinks when they do. If the car isn't running everything works fine.

Re: Berlinetta blinker problem!
I wound up replacing my light module with a known-good used one. No more problems.
Re: Berlinetta blinker problem!
I may end up doing the same. My blinker/ headlight problem is puzzling me. My headlights won't stay off and the battery light comes on and when it does my blinkers stop working. Battery voltage is good and alternator is charging so as to why the battery light ?????? When the car is not running everything is ok. Something is screwy is all I know.... May I ask where you found a light module? I'm finding it hard to come across berlinetta parts.
Re: Berlinetta blinker problem!
Ok well nevermind..... Apparently my alternator was putting out too much juice and the headlights were kicking on to comensate, I'm guessing. Unplugged the alternator and plugged it back in and all is good, voltage back to normal. Ohh this damn berlinetta....

If you need the parts, John in RI is usually a good source.
And yes, voltage issues can cause trouble with these old style circuit boards.
