89 Iroc-z getting to know
Ok I bought this car about 2 weeks ago.The car started and run fine when I went to look at it.The body is good inteir fair no knocks in the motor. The brakes are sticky, and they need a few parts. So far so good.I noticed that the temp gauge didnt seam to move during check out.No biggy. The guy carried the car to a friend house and we put it in the garage. After a few days we started to look at the brakes. I remembered the temp gauge and found the bottom temp sensor.and hooked the wire back up.It was off. that was a few days ago.today for the first time I went to start it.Nothing.Not even a dome light.Put a charger on it let it charge about 15 min.and turn it over about 2 times before the starter kicked out. Some fan came on for a few seconds and went off before I could locate it.Now the guy new the secondary fan wasnt hooked up.the primary worked during check out. This car sat for atleast 2 years. With a resident mouse I think.I called the guy He said he thinks its just the battery. Not a short. There are some wires not hooked up.Two large red wires that look to have some kind of fuse that start at the battery and run back to the firewall across and into the harness. He said he thought the alarmsystem had been disconected. Its only had 3 previous owners. You think this is just a battery thing or a short.

Easiest thing to rule out the Battery is to take it out and to O'reily's or Autozone and have them test it. If the battery is fine, you can start with parasitic draw tests, removing fuses, etc...

I unhooked the lower temp sencor and put in a back up battery.let it sit a day and it started fine.Next step hook sensor back up.
