My Lights have a mind of their own

Hey guys, first off I'm new to the forums so hello!

I have an 87 GTA Trans am with a mind of its own. Sometimes when I turned my headlights on, both blinkers would turn on as well but wouldn't blink. Just stay on, as well as the high beams and i could not shut them off unless i turned off the headlights switch. After a few minutes they would go back to normal and everything will function correctly. It doesn't happen every time but quite frequently.

Well, now the high beam dash indicator is always on, regardless if my high beams are activated or not and my left headlight is now extremely dim. I know its not the light because I just replaced them, tried switching the headlights with each other and they both work. So I'm wondering if its just a bad connection, a relay? Should I just rip the entire wiring system out and replace it?

Thanks!

Yes based on your description it’s been messed with by the PO.

It might be faster to remove and replace than troubleshoot if it’s a mess.

Also, check the grounds.

They might look good but have high resistance.

Happy Racing!
