hazards work blinkers don't!

all the parking lights will come on. push the hazard switch and all the proper lights flash. flip the turn signals on right or left and the light on the dash comes on and stays lit like i have a blown bulb which obviously isn't the case. i checked fuses and none are blown either. the 2 silver fuses i switched and still the same thing. i don't know what the problem could be. any advise on what to check next???

Re: hazards work blinkers don't!

have you made sure all the bulbs are seated right? They go in a certain way and sometimes they'll light up (but not the second filament inside)...

Re: hazards work blinkers don't!

i haven't double checked the bulbs yet but my blinkers worked on the way to work then i got off work went to make the first turn and then they didn't. but like i said the hazards still flash which is all the turn signal bulbs. just when i hit the turn signals from the lever the dash light stays lit not blinking and the outside lights stays on. front and back. how can all the hazards work properly and then the turn signals not work when activated seperately?

Re: hazards work blinkers don't!

the T/S flasher is bad, the T/S and H use a different flasher, 1 for each.

Re: hazards work blinkers don't!

are they the silver ones? i will check them again. cause that was the second thing i did. first was checking blinking patterns. i did check all fuses. when i got to the flashers i pulled them and i thought i switched them but might have put them into same slot. will do that before i go to work. anything else as a just in case?

Re: hazards work blinkers don't!

Just swap them around for a test, GM has done that for years, flashers for each one.

turn on hazzards to tell which one is clicking/working.

Re: hazards work blinkers don't!

i checked the 2 silver ones in the fuse panel. switched them and pulled them. nothing changed. hazards work with them out. did see a hazard fuse. it is good. then there is a turn b/u fuse it is good. maybe then the two silvers are bad? all regular fuses good though checked them all. no way to check the silvers... right? other than what i did?

Re: hazards work blinkers don't!

i listened and can hear clicking with hazards no clicking with turns. silvers i was looking at were in fuse panel. are the flasher up by the column then. never heard of flashers being hidden before. and it started raining to go with it. ugh!

no they often hide them, took years to find the one in my wagon, it was tuck a mile deep into the dash.

find the one that clicks and you found em.

Re: hazards work blinkers don't!

alright! i found one not clicking and the other that is is the hazards. tucked behind a little black box. still don't know where the hazard one is but the one that i found i pulled it and the dash indicators went out. and the bulbs on the outside don't come on. hazards still work on dash and outside of car. i got the bugger. i gotta leave for work early and stop buy the parts shop and pick one up. thanks gumby this thing was driving me crazy i hate not using turn signals. when i get home i'll let you know if this fixes it.

Just member hand singls are still legal if you get a cop behind you.

straight out for left, arm up for right.

Re: hazards work blinkers don't!

i got the flasher in and the blinkers work again. lol funny you should say that about the hand signals i was thinkin that and i actually did that on the way to work and people thought i was waving at them! the ignorance. nice to have them fixed. now people can see the sequentials again. just have to find the hazard one in the near future and replace it just in case... thanks again.

Re: hazards work blinkers don't!

a flasher is about 1" around 1" tall silver with 2 prong connector. hard to find but you will know when you see it. or go one parts store website for pic. i used flasher 552. makes my sequential signals a little slower.

Re: hazards work blinkers don't!

don't have a pic, but there is a black box right there near the diagnostic port. the turn signal flasher should be tucked up there. happy hunting.
