NEED help with wiring problem

Hey guys, I have a 84 Z28 HO 5speed, while replacing the carpet I found a plug that was all taped up and opened and found this mess, there are two red wires coming up in front of the shifter, these were connected with a white wire on each and just stuck into the plug, which looks like it goes to the blue wire, I left one out but it looks like it was going to the green wire. also there is a jumper which looks to connect the yellow and purple wire. Long story short could someone tell me what all of this goes to and how to fix, the wire colors on the plug are black/white,orange/black ,blue, green, purple and yellow. thanks.

Re: NEED help with wiring problem

Did it used to be an Auto trans car? Looks kinda like the plug that plugs into the shifter. Only guessing, a little help here?

Yellow and the purple wire are for the neutral safety switch... I'm willing to bet you don't have to step on the clutch to start the car. As for your question, it is the plug that would go into an automatic shifter assembly.

EDIT: Green and blue were for the reverse lights switch.

Neutral safety switch for a automatic transmission car. Two large wires for the ignition (so won't start unless in N or P. Reverse lights also. Also a wire to the trunk release so you can't 'pop' it while driving.
