Identify this wire.

This brown wire is coming from the bundle that contains the radio wires and cigar lighter wires. It is hot when the ignition is on. My wiring diagrams do not show the radio wires. Any one know what it is?

Re: Identify this wire.

I'm going to make a guess here at a wire from the light switch - if you look at the following link, it shows a brown wire from light switch running with the radio wires:

If you also look at diags for the light switch you'll see a brown wire, and you'll see it again when looking at diags for heater controls and center console stuff.

This is all 1992 car diags, but should still be the same as it's all basic wiring. Here's where I look at wiring diags at:

Re: Identify this wire.

For dash harnesses, brown almost always defaults to light switch 12v

Re: Identify this wire.

Thanks guys I figured it out. It is the dimmer wire. It plugs into a pigtail on the radio along with the 12V continues wire. The PO really had this wiring hacked up. I can not figure out why anyone would ever cut out factory wiring. I have spent 4 solid days fixing all of the "ghetto" wiring on this car. Now if someone could tell me what this wire is for coming off of the starter wires I would really appreciate it!!! ( I have posted this before with no luck )
