TPS Question

While doing research today, I learned that the 91 and 92 cars did not have adjustable throttle position sensors. I have a motor out of a 92 Z28 in my 88. It has an adjustable tps. How much would this effect the engine? I suspect its out to begin with, because it has a dead spot in the throttle. (I've been tinkering with the car for a while now, but I have to get it up to par now cause I wrecked the beater.) If anyone has a clue, it would be very helpful. It would be interesting if this is the root of most of my problems. Minus the obvious lack of a few vacuum hoses. Lol

'730 TPI ECM takes the TPS figure it first sees when key turned on and uses that as base figure.( so long as it is within range )
Does not require setting to .54 V as on earlier '165 TPI computers.

Put a DVM on the TPS and measure the resistance .
Should be smooth increase across total opening range

Re: TPS Question

I'm not sure which ecm is in the car. I have the one in the car it is running with now, and a extra one in a box of misc. parts I was given when I traded the car. I am guessing there would be numbers on the ecm's that would tell me? And, If I do infact have a dead/dying tps with a '165 ecm, would it matter if I got a non adjustable one or not? I'd rather not have the hassle of having it be adjust able.

Re: TPS Question

Well, I have a MAF Set up, so I definitely have the older computer. I'll get the tps voltage checked soon as this snow goes away.
