Passenger headlight stuck, help please

90 Formula. Headlight sticks and I can see the motor spinning. If I turn the **** and lift up on the light it snaps up and I can turn the **** until the light is all the way up. I have to turn the **** back some before I turn them off in order for the light to go down on it's own. Is this the bushing inside going bad?

Also, the black plastic that surrounds the headlight broke when pulling the headlight up, I'm assuming this is what the loud snap was when I broke the light free while trying to get it up. I don't know if it is getting caught or not because I can not see anything down there. If anyone knows what may be happening and where I can get this plastic I'd like to know.

Re: Passenger headlight stuck, help please

rebuild the motor there are plastic bushings inside the motor that dry and get grinded up i recommend changing to some type of metal bushing these are labeled for fiero but they are the same motors in the firebird

I will do that. One of my concerns was with the headlight plastic breaking. I don't know if it locks in place somewhere and by forcing it up I may have snapped it OR if something is lined up incorrectly.

Re: Passenger headlight stuck, help please

the snapping may of been the plastic bushings going past their points to dust and now it slips slightly and pops around. as long as there is no wiggle in the light dont worry about it.
i also must warn you getting the motor out is a royal pain in the *** and i found it essayer just to remove the entire headlamp assembly.

Re: Passenger headlight stuck, help please

Yes I have to do that now in order to replace the plastic bezel that I broke. And when I heard it snap I heard something drop and thats when I noticed the broken plastic bezel (chipped corner.) There was a slight wiggle but I noticed the very first time this happened that the wiggle went away after opening and then closing the lights.

Does anyone know how these lock in place in the down position? I feel like the bezel locks in place somewhere and I broke it by pulling the light upwards. This is the bezel: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/85-86...Q5fAccessories

Hmmm, then I wonder why the plastic snapped. I hope it's not caught on something.

FIGURED IT OUT. My bumper is moved outward for some reason...so now the light keeps getting stuck under it.

Re: Passenger headlight stuck, help please

hi I basically have this same problem....i have a 86 t/a carbed 355 and my headlights go up normal but then only the driver side will go down I've checked 2 of the 3 relays "the two on the inner fenders I checked them both they worked fine on drivers side the one next to radiator I'm not shure about" ok on to the one next to the radiator I was reading in a forum on here that when the light switch is off in the car the 2 blue wires on that relay would have some amount of voltage not shure what amount he had said....anyways I get voltage their when the switch is on not off........one more thing how do I check the motor from its plug thanks hope you can help me out
