Is anyone currently working with the hatch pulldown motor?

I need help guys with my wiring. I just got a cargo cover with a trunklight. But as I looked around for a trunk light switch, I couldnt find anything to connect to. So does anyone have a picture of the trunk light switch as well as a picture of the wiring to the trunk light that I can use as a referrence? I already searched and looked over a few wiring diagrams but I have not found any success on finding the connection and the trunk light switch. Thanks in advance guyz.

If you want the cargo light to illuminate simultaneously with the hatch light, connect the cargo light wires to the red wire with a WHITE stripe at the pull-down, and the other cargo light wire to the black wire with an orange stripe.

Thats the thing though, I dont have a hatch switch or a hatch light. I picked it up at the junkyard. So Im gonna cut out a square in the cargo cover. I assume that ur reffering to the interior dome light. But I will take your advice and check it out later on today. Then Ill give you a heads up on what I find. Ill take pictures too. Thanks for helping my out man. Much appreciated.

No, I was referring to the Hatch Light, which is located in the rear most panel of the car.

If you don’t have a pull-down unit, that changes things.

In that case you DO want to use the Dome Light circuit.

A good place to tap into that is one of the pin switches.

So, connect one of the cargo light wires to any hot wire, and connect the other cargo light wire to the white wire coming off one of the pin switches.

in the picture below, I found that the white wire is connected to the reverse switch at the very top of the pulldown motor assembly.

Next to the rear catch and to the left if your are standing behind looking towards the front of care, what is the panel on top that looks like it is housing 4 contacts?

The 2 outer are for the third brake light. The 2 inner are for the rear defroster lines if your glass is equipt.

Yup. That's how it works. Now on the passengerside lift ( the support lift for the hatch glass) there should be a wire with a female terminal connector. That female connector connects to the male terminal that is welded on the lift. Those terminals serve as a ground point for the third brake light and defroster lines.

Ahh. Yes I see now. Thanks. I opened up the rear locked boot compartment and found the original log book, owners details and some original receipts for some work done by the dealer back in 1990. Even had a invoice for it 40 thousand service in 1990. Was amazing to have those.

Had a look at mine and can not see any contacts where that plate meets up.Will take a photo and upload.Still working out how to upload a pic as well here.

Good news is i went out and got some parts off the guy that was left behind.Grabbed the original steering wheel which i thought would have the push buttons but it dosent.(Has a Pontiac emblem on the horn centre).
