VATS issues I think
VATS issues I think
I bought a 92 IROC and was told it would not start. The car would crank over but there is no fire to plugs. I picked up an ECU from the junkyard. Donor car was a 6cyl. I plugged it in and the car fired right up. ran rough but it would run. I shut the car off and I plugged the original ECU back in and the car started up and ran fine. I shut the car down and it would not start due to no fire again.
I Repeated the above scenario with the same results. I am thinking the original ECU is reading the vats after the car is restarted and the donor ECU does not have the VATS code in prom. Does my thinking sound correct and if so any suggestions?
Thanks for help or suggestions.

Re: VATS issues I think
Welcome to TGO!
VATS doesn't interrupt firing of the spark plugs, it interrupts the starter signal wire from getting 12v+ (through the starter enable relay) and it interrupts the fuel injectors from firing (by means of a pulse wave signal sent to the ECM).
So if your only issue is spark, then it's not a VATS issue.
