vats issue

So I have been dealing with my vats system on my 1992 camaro rs 305 manual. I ran a new key switch but kept the old key hooked up to the vats system underneath the dash so i didn't have to worry about the wires being cut again the the steering column. So I have had this setup for over 6 months and today it decides to go all haywire and the resistance signal is not being completed. What should I use to bypass this stupid system? Any help would be great thanks.

Re: vats issue

Just do the normal VATS bypass with the resistors.

Re: vats issue

The short version is look for the orange wire running from the wiring harness on the bottom of the steering column and splice a resistor onto it that matches the resistance of the chip on your key.

Re: vats issue

He's saying that he left the VATS cylinder with key under the dash, and it's worked for 6 months. I could understand if he was taking the key in and out, but leaving it still shouldn't have worn out the contacts unless they got rusty. Are you getting a no crank or a crank but no fuel? Any codes we can look at?
