Just got a CB radio, Few questions
Just purchased a Cobra 10 Ultra CB from a friend at a garage sale for 10 dollars, cant beat that! Came with the noise cancelling speaker as well. Everything was included except for the CB mount, mic bracket, and antenna. Where have you guys mounted your Cb's? And is there anyway to hook the car stereo antenna to the CB? Or does it have to be one of the gaudy 7 foot antennas? Thanks tons!

they sell a small car mount antenna. but the antenna magnifies your sound. people prefer the predator 10k antennas but that'd look funky on a third gen. you can get a small antenna and mount on your back glass. but you'll be a mud duck and won't get out. I dont run cb radio's but my dad is into them so I hear a lot about them. thier are a lot of variables. If your going to rub "barefoot" meaning no amplifier you won't get out much at all. On a third gen it just doesnt seem practical because of the sport car look. but its your car and you are allowed to do what you want.

Re: Just got a CB radio, Few questions
Can't find the pic but swear mine had a factory installed CB, as it has an extra antenna hole to expertly stamped into the rear left section where its flat.
No way it was drilled after, when I got it, it just had one of those chrome popper toper snap in plug hole fillers. Goes unnoticed really now that its body color.
Though if you want range you need a whip n amp, but id put the whip in the stock location in the front right fender and do the bend back to the rear trick they do; so it doesn't stick up 90ft.
They look goofy on everything, but it’s not for looks but good reception.
A good stereo don't need an antenna, shoved mine down into the hole and mudded over it. My Pioneer deck has no trouble picking up station.
Can kinda see it in my notchback pics, but since its body color now, you just barley see it, just a hint of highlight on the lip if you look close on the left.

Re: Just got a CB radio, Few questions
i have a 5 foot whip on my tailgate hahaha. everyone told me not to do it, and to get a glass or magnet mount, but i wanted the obnoxious bandit look. thats just me.
i stumbled across a cobra something or other that has all the controls on the mic. i have the "box" mounted to the right of the deck in the inside part of the footwells, and the cable i have coming out from under the console around ashtray region. looks good.
i took one of the screws off from where the dash pad is held in above the airvents, put in a frame mounting loop, and put in a new tiny hook to the back of the mic and bent it around until i had it to where i wouldnt really have to look to get it hooked on. i have a pic, i'll upload it now.
they have those elastic mic "dogleash" type things. i dont know the technical term haha, but i might pick up one of those for it next time im near the truck stops.

Re: Just got a CB radio, Few questions
if you want a real CB get an export radio like a galaxy, general lee or something .... you will walk all over your friends, thats all i run with linears, i do not have one in the maro anymore but when i did i had a mag mount wilson 1000, you could unscrew the coil and whip and hardly notice the mag mount when your not using it
also do not use the radio antenna thing thats a good way to fry your CB, get a real CB antenna
