I have an IROC and I'd hate to see something bad happen to it. I want to get a top of the line car alarm. But what is good? I heard pros and cons about several.
I was thinking about one of the three:
1. Viper 5901 Alarm
2. Lo-Jack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System
3. Ravelco
Viper alarm will scare the thief with noise, but they still could by-pass it and steal it. Lo-Jack the car could be stolen, but it will be tracked and recovered so you'll get it back after it's been molested, beaten, smashed, or worse! But I haven't heard too much about Ravelco...
What do you guys think is a good car alarm? Everyone's opinions matter..

Ive heard that placing two lit candles on your dash, and an enochian devils trap in the middle will cause anyone other than the rightful owner of the car to be sent straight to hell with 100% Guarantee! Also if you leave a sign on the window that says "Youre eyes are blurry, this is actually a 1975 ford pinto, with a large body kit." Seems to work for me

Though a hidden kill switch is the best, alarms can be disabled and are often installed the same place in every car.
hidden custom kill switches aren't.
easy on a stick if you tap into the clutch switch, same with the park N switch on an auto trans. make it think its in gear and no start, you can peel the column till its gone and it won't start.

Its not hard, most good alarms have an acc wires to run other stuff during an "alarm" hit ebay for a 12v fog machine and rig it up and secure well, don't want it easy to disable, as fog machines aren't a instant on, it will start slow, they will wonder why they are chocking, they will put the windows down for air but won't get a block before all the smoke rolling out the car will attract attention, let alone one breath and your lungs will lock tight.Originally Posted by 91phoenix

Just buy liquid capsaicin and mix with the fog machine fluid.
They sell concentrate to mix in with products to make them extra hot.
Only thing you want though is a relay circuit, that once the alarm tells it to work, it does not shut off the fog machine. Cause if they disable the alarm…. You want a hidden fail-safe device that turns it of. As they do need a min to heat up to work, you will have time so you don’t gas yourself.
Even more sinister is a converted air bag wheel [cause they got room inside] and you put one of those tazers that shoots out the hooked barbes. The short distance will make sure they go in deep.
now my last one is both thief and tow truck safe, 4 corner built in jacks like a Indy car. It can't be driven or towed away, wheels aren't on the ground.
And should be strong so if they try to tow on the a hook, the post just dig into the pavement and stop, not fold over n let it roll down the street, they will need a crane/fork lift to lift it off the ground to get it on a flat bed.
alarm set in the lot, the jacks only take half the weight off the tires, alarm goes off someone gets in, they extend to full height and lock.

Im old fashion guys but since were on the topic heres what I have right now...Viper alarm hidden kill switch with a trunk release(just buy rh window motor module (15-20$) hehe. Next have the all Pep Boys original "The Club " (red steering lock)... this car is 24/7 in the driveway never parked in the street. Now considering some of us that don't have a driveway which I didnt when I owned a 89 hard top V6 RS back then I hardly ever cared lol....Now after owning my IROCZ I think different. For those of you that park on the street here's the old skool way of it in which Im considering when parking at a Walmart or shopping mall is researching on GT wood grain steering wheels that disable. Yeah I know haha. Ive seen it done back in the day and its what makes sense. We'll either carry it around or hide it under our seats. It worked back then why can't it work now.

Just a typical VIPER alarm system and a kill switch is all that's needed.
Just with that it will take a tow truck to steal it.

I second (third?. ..fourth?) the kill switch. Heck, you can have it in plain sight just labeled as something different if you don't want to always reach under/over/into wherever you'd typically hide it.

Or just buy a little battery operated LED blinker, set it under your dash (so the light will shine into the footwell, etc.) and let it be. It'll give the appearance of an 'engaged' car alarm lol.
