Battery Terminal help

Hello everyone,

I have a 91 Firebird. 305 TBI. I am having a battery issue. The negative battery terminal is corroded. I'm talking about the actual terminal on the battery itself. I took it back to NAPA today to get a replacement but they wont take it because they say that this is due to over tightening the bolt. Whenever I fasten the battery cable to the battery terminal it moves as if it is not tight or secure to the battery. The car only starts when I kind of bend the whole bolt with the battery cable downward or upward. It's hard to explain, so hopefully my picture will provide some more insight.

Is there a way of fixing the battery terminal? I'm trying to avoid paying another $90 for a battery. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Battery Terminal help

Kind of blurry so it's hard to tell. Have you tried taking a wire brush to the battery terminals to clean them up and also brushing or cleaning up the threads of the attaching bolt or replacing it so that the bolt threads in farther ?
