Huge Problem! Please help!

Hi Guys,

I drove my Firebird to a shop today and it ran just fine. I went to leave and the engine wouldn't start. It turned over a little once or twice and then wouldn't turn over anymore. The shop guys came out and put a charger on it and it finally started.

However, on the way home, the tach was about 1000rpm too high and would bounce around. Then the SES light would intermittently come on and the car would surge until it went off.

I had the computer hanging from under the dash resting on the floor board. I kept hearing a static-sounding whine noise when I would hit the gas coming from the computer area. When I got home, I parked it and the computer was very warm to the touch. And now it won't start or turn over again! If I turn the key forward, I hear a static-like noise and all the dash lights are extremely dim. I even tried unplugging the computer completely but the same thing happens!

Anyone have any ideas what would all of a sudden cause this???

FYI - I checked all the fuses in the fuse panel and they're good.

Thanks!

Re: Huge Problem! Please help!

I started looking for any burnt or disconnected wires today but couldn't find anything.
I then hooked the ECU back up and put the factory PROM in it. The car then started up!?!

However, the check engine light was on the whole time and my scanner won't connect to the ECU. Also, I tried to manually jumper the ALDL port to get the flashing codes and that didn't work either.

Confusing!?! So now I'm worried about driving it because I don't know if it will just decide to not start from now on. Can anyone recommend anything to check/replace? Switches, relays?
