Re: wiring harness PLZ help
I assume the new motor is carbed.
Wiring diags will help you trace the colors you can delete: http://www.austinthirdgen.org/index.php?pid=19
Usually, everything from pass side harness gets deleted, and everything from driver side harness stays (that's lights, horn, alternator, fuseblock, etc.

Maybe you shouldn't tackle the project if you can't read a wiring diagram.

Re: wiring harness PLZ help
Wiring diags show wire colors, and what the wires run to. If you can't read color names and names of components, then you should stay out of it.
Besides - there's nothing from the fuse block area that can come out except FI fuses, and there's really no point in wasting anytime tracing and removing those 2 wires.

I didn't say you were stupid. It's not a simple job that someone can give you step by step directions for. Youneed to have some skills.

Re: wiring harness PLZ help
I changed a 89 iroc from MAF to 92 Z28 speed density and it was a major undertaking. You would think most of these harnesses would interchange but they will not. I had to change dash harness, tail light harness, etc. The only harnesses I did not change were the A/C harness and the power window/lock harness. I am a HVAC contracter and I know electrical schematics and diagrams and I still needed help. To change from 2.8 to a V8 you will need a complete harness from another car with what you need. Remember from 90 to 92 they had air bags and also speed density. 89 and older had MAF and a different dash. The rear harness is different on the cars as well. I had to change it since the plug-in is different. I had to hook up the air bag system on my 89 and that is a job in itself. Good Luck.
