NO Acc No Start when I touch the brake
NO Acc No Start when I touch the brake
Hi all,
I have been having a really weird problem lately. I have a 1983 Firebird S/E V6. It currently won't start, but was working great up until a week ago, though sometimes it will start fine.
When I turn the key to ACC, my radio works fine, everything is good. When I turn to start, I lose all power, my radio resets and it will not turn over. Sometimes it will click a couple of times, but mostly it will do nothing.
When I turn the key back to ACC, nothing works until I take take my foot off the brake, then my radio comes back on.
I'm thinking a wire, but I have no idea where to start looking.
Any help would be very much appreciated!
Thank you

Re: NO Acc No Start when I touch the brake
So I changed the battery cables today, still have the same issue.
It won't even try to start, and when the key is turned to accessories, everything works until I touch the brake and then everything dies. After I take the brake off, it will be around 5 seconds before everything comes back on.
Any ideas?

so, it ended up being corrosion on the starter. The battery cable was fine, but the cable that goes to the ignition has some corrosion. I changed them on the post and everything worked fine.
Until i drove it home and it died on the street. The new battery cable burnt up, lol Going to fix that tomorrow
