Hi-beams stuck ON/Flashing
Hi-beams stuck ON/Flashing
So I went to the parts store and grabed two NEW sealed beams. One was half filled with water and the other was looking rough so i replaced them. I plugged them in and they both turned on. When I went to turn the headlights OFF I noticed the hi beam indicator on the dash was ON. I tried flipping them to lo-beam and got nothing. After about 10-15 mins of driving the head lights and the hi-beam indicator light starting flashing a TON.
I have no idea where to even start attacking this prob...
PLEASE HELP!!

I'd start with the hi/lo beam switch, located on the lower steering column just above the brake pedal. When you move the stalk lever, you'll see a rod moving up/down the column into/out of the switch - check it for wiring connector issues, or try replacing it.

Hey, TA,
Welcome to TGO.
Are you certain you have the correct lamps?

Re: Hi-beams stuck ON/Flashing
So I did some basic troubleshooting and found my problem. @JamesC, it seems I did NOT have the correct lamps. Goes to show how much some of these parts guys really know, huh?
The original sealed beams were a 3100k rating where the replacements I bought were 3300k. I guess the Sylvania Xtravision lights overheated the circuit causing the headlights to flash.
So, I went to another parts store in town and they gave me the correct, standard rating lamps. My beams now switch from hi to lo and I have no more erratic headlight flashing.
Thanks for the advice guys!
