Hatch pulldown motor issue!

My car has 21K on it so I dont expect the motor is worn out..
I opened the hatch Monday and it wouldnt close. motor does not kick on. nothing else seems affected so I dont think it is a fuse. no one has slammed it. I cleaned the contacts but no luck. motor does not kick on at all. any ideas?

Re: Hatch pulldown motor issue!

Is the assembly stuck in the up or down position?
I'm just wondering---if it's down, have you tried to flip the limit switch manually?

You mean it does latch, it just doesn't pull it down?

Re: Hatch pulldown motor issue!

It switch is black.. looks like part of the latch.. just feel around there.. it is there... I had to take off the trim to see it well.. it does not look like a switch... more like a lever...solid black and is vertical. but it is right in the lock..part of it..
