Switching to carb.. what can i cut?
hey guys just curious if there is a thread or if anyone knows a basic rundown on what i can delete from the wiring harness. i want it to be street leagal but i want to clean it all up in the engine bay as well. i pulled my 305 and am switching to a carbureted 350.
i'm not trying to get anyone to do my homework for me just a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated or a thread that has already done this would be nice as well.
thanks guys and happy holidays.

As a general guideline all the crap from the passenger side will go. Just make sure you trace stuff to sensors. Pull the ECM out.

thanks internal, ya theres a big bundle going to the passenger side by the blower motor. im actually considering just pulling everything and doing a painless wiring set up.
ls1 hunter.... iv looked as well and ya a not finding much as far as step by step or someones build on this one. good luck, you might want to check out the painless wiring as well.
thanks guys

The ECM harness is completely separate and removable, it's the only factory wiring missing from my previously carb-converted car. Keep it and the ECM stashed away in the garage somewhere.
For anything else you don't use - please don't butcher your harness - just tuck it away out of sight as possible. For instance, my PO was kind enough to leave the AC wiring present, even tho the AC was deleted. Now I want reinstall it, it's one headache I don't have.

Re: Switching to carb.. what can i cut?
you shouldnt need to really cut anything. the entire passanger side engine harness comes out with the ecm. theres a few wires that cross over behind the engine and connect into the driver side harness. fish those out and seperate them. the entire driverside harness needs to be untouched for the most part. youll tap into those wires for the gauge senders and power sources for the new engine. the ac wires can stay if youre keeping the ac, or can be pulled back into the cabin and the hole in the firewall filled.

best collection of harness info online. a helms manual also helps greatly.
psgr harness is ecm related, can be removed or tucked into the fender without cutting anything. about midway on the firewall is the ac/heat harness, leave there. driver side has the gauge and lighting harness.
