High beams won't click off
I have an 1990 IROC. When I go to click off the high beams nothing happens. Is It the switch that controls all of the cruise, turn signals, etc? Or is there a piece that could be broken in the steering column? Thanks for any input.

Re: High beams won't click off
The hi beam switch is located on top of the steering column halfway down, and is actuated by a rod attached to the signal stalk.
The switch is mounted with a couple of screws in slotted holes, and can slide down away from the rod over time. Might need to re-adjust it. Is there no click when you pull the control stalk towards you?

Then either the rod is not actuating the switch as described, or the switch is broken. Get under the dash and see if the rod is loose, or even fallen out of the switch. Grab the rod and see if you can click the switch by hand.

Well I finally got it. I set the tilt all the way up and it works that way. Guess some adjustments need to be done. Thanks!

Definitely the switch position needs to be moved up the column a little then, to engage the rod a little more.

Re: High beams won't click off
have the same exact problem on my 92 camaro rs, turns out its the bolts at the bottom of the steering colum are loose. the steering wheel feels pretty solid though except when u push down on the bottom.
Re: High beams won't click off
Well this is one problem I have too. Caused from someone stealing my car and breaking the stear colum plastic cover. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the cover off. I thought it would be a simple matter of just pulling off the steering wheel but that's not it. I took the large nut off but that didn't do any thing unless a lot of force is required to remove it. It's an 86 iroc manual with tilt steering. How do I get that plastic peice off so I can replace it?
