Voltage drain and jump. Need help.

Hi. I have an '89 camaro and it's been having a voltage problem for a while now.
When the car is in park, the voltage meter is at about 12. When I put the car in drive, it goes from 12 to about 6. And when the lights are on, it goes even lower. When I'm driving and I push the brake hard, the voltage jumps from about 6 to 12. When I make a left turn, (only left) it jumps up to around 12. When I'm driving constantly, the power does not pass 8.
I got the power system checked and it is charging properly. The car has a new battery and alternator.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Check/Change your major power and ground cables. Seems like you may have a bad ground somewhere. Make sure all the grounds are clean and tight. Battery to block ground, and run another from battery to chassis, or block to chassis. And your power cables being battery to starter, and battery to alternator. Once you know all this is good you can move on to checking other items.

Yeah.....really check the ground cables good! Does your battery slide at all? Maybe when you turn it moves and causes a bad connection. Something I did which may be overkill.....was to put a ground on the alternator bracket to the sidewall and since I have a battery that has the front mount and top posts.....I took a battery cable connector and made a ground. I attached it from the negative post to the existing ground right by the negative (neg to the sidewall) I know when I did that my voltage stopped bouncing when I had on lights, turn signals, ect.... Just something to try. The fusible links can be checked with a meter but if it stretches like a rubber band....chances are its bad. There should be 2 coming off the battery I believe and 2 or 3 coming off the starter. I just went through an 89 Rs's entire electrical system.......what a joy lol. Anyways...good luck!!!
