Blower motor issue
After 4 years of "rest" I finally got my '92 Trans Am running again. When it got parked the heat and A/C worked fine. Now the blower motor won't even turn on. Neither will the A/C compressor. I have run a jumper wire straight from the motor to the battery and also one to a ground and still nothing. Are there any common problems that occur from long periods of inactivity? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also when I move the selector I can hear air doing something, so I think the vacuum part of it is ok.

I imagine you have a some stuck bushings or brushes on the blower motor. You could pull the motor and try to get them freed up, thats the easy one. As far as the compressor what does it do when you turn the ac on?

Nothing. It doesn't engage, it doesn't even click or anything. I'll try to get the motor off today and take a look at it

Re: Blower motor issue
Once you got the fan freed up I would check the ac clutch fuse. I would also make sure you have freon in it. If you don't have a set of gauges you can use your ohm meter and check the low pressure switch. It is on the low pressure side (the big line) on or around the accumulator ( the big silver can in the low pressure line). If it is open it won't let your clutch engauge. If it is good then with the car running I would pull the plug to the clutch and see If you are getting 12 volts to it through the plug. If you are I would then use an ohm meter to make sure the coil in your clutch isn't open. If the low pressure switch is open then you need to get a set of gauges from someone to check your pressures. Once you check all that we can go from their.

Re: Blower motor issue
I got it working. turns out, there is some kind of plastic gear or something inside the selector box that had separated a little. I squeezed it back together and the air stopped hissing, then the A/C and everything started working. Thanks for the replies
