Dakota Digital SGI-5 C

OK. I searched and read about 90 threads and still didn't get my question answered.
What I need to know is what wires from the VSS go where? All I'm trying to do is compensate for a rear gear change, (2.73 to 3.42), and get the speedo to read correctly and the cruise to stay working. No T56 swap. Just a 700R4. Which one from the VSS is the input to the DD? Do I take the ECM out of the picture and run the wires from the unit to the speedo/cruise? If so, do I use output 4 for the speedo and output 5 for the cruise? If not, which VSS wire is for the signal in and which one is for signal ground, if any? And then just leave it go through the ECM and it handles it from there? HELP! I don't want to fry anything and cost myself a bundle because of my ignorance.

Also, which application pertains to my situation? The speedo is reading about 25% too fast.

Re: Dakota Digital SGI-5 C

My confusion is coming from the DD instructions saying that one wire on the VSS is the signal and the other is a ground. But, looking at the FSM, that does not appear to be the case.

On a MAP TPI car ; the VSS signal goes directly to the ECM which then has outputs for speedo and Cruise

At ECM
purple B9 is ground
yellow B10 is VSS input
brown B11 is 4000 pulse signal to speedo
red C1 is 2000 pulse for cruise

Why can you not put the correct speedo gears in the trans to suit the new rearend ratio
and not have to change / wire up anything else ?

On my Vette I just changed the speedo gears in the T700 when I went from 3.07 to 3.73

A 15 tooth Grey drive gear on the tranny tailshaft and a 41 tooth Yellow driven gear on the sending unit and your done...... No Digital Dakota needed !

Re: Dakota Digital SGI-5 C

Well, I was actually trying to duck changing the drive gear. I presumed with the original 2.73's, it would be a 19 or, at best, an 18 tooth unit and would definitely need to be swapped out. Amazingly, as it turns out, it's a 17. So, a 44 tooth driven gear and a new, (white), "carrier" and I'm all set.

Re: Dakota Digital SGI-5 C

on a 7730 you can run the 4k ppm to the dgi-5 and have the magnetic output goto b10, B9 would not be used.
