Do you know where this connector goes? Car won't start.

I swapped a "new" dash into my 1990 Camaro. My steering column no longer has cruise control, but I don't think this is for the cruise control. Does anyone know what it is or where it goes? I cant find it in any diagrams or if I'm just looking over it My car wont start, I bypassed the VATS and that system is happy. I'm hopping this is the problem. I'm about to check if the ECM is receiving power though the connector. THANKS!

The connector is under the dash, it has a pink/black wire and a purple wire.

I don't believe its for the brakes. There is a white switch that has two connectors on it for the brakes. Is there more than that?

i'm not sure off hand about your car but mine had 2 switches one for the brake light and computer/lock up input and one for the cruse control. but i don't think that would be your reason for the car not starting.

Won't crank or won't fire?
Two completely different situations

How do you know if the engine won't start?
Are the injectors spraying?

Re: Do you know where this connector goes? Car won't start.

It wouldn't crank or fire. It ends out the VATS was the problem with the cranking but not the firing. I bypassed the VATS to the Starter Relay behind the kick panel and it would crank, but it wouldn't start. So I found the resistance to the VATS system and did all of that jazz. The car still wouldn't fire, but now I had seen the security light come on for the first time in my life lol. The light came on and went off, it was just a light test. I check the power to the injectors while it was cranking, with my friends oscilloscope, it was getting no power. At this point I thought the ECM was blown and got depressed and called it a day.

The next morning I was looking at wiring diagrams and thought I should check and see if the ECM was getting power from the battery! It ends out it wasn't! The only thing that was between the ECM and the battery was an inline fuse near the battery... It was a pain to find. It was not mounted anywhere and it was sitting under the battery. The fuse was blown, I swapped it out, and the car purred to life!

After all that I decided to disconnect the VATS resistor and the car fired up like it should have! **I still left the Starter Relay bypassed because that has to be bypassed for the car to crank, but the ECM didn't need it because it was taken out of an '87 car that did not have the VATS in it. After that test that made up for me feeling like I couldn't understand a diagram, I put the fuse back in... I like the security light go through it's test lol

Now that the car was drivable, again, I decided to go out for a joy ride with my friend (who helped me trouble shoot this) and almost immediately blew a head gasket! ~.~ This swear car hates me.

And for a conclusion to the topic, I have no idea where that plug goes. All my lights and gauges work so I don't care. Sorry if your reading this and you couldn't find out where it goes

To answer your origional question. the connector you took a picture of plugs into the switch that shuts the cruise control off when you hit the brakes. it is a white switch with a vacuum line coming out of it right next to the three wire brake switch. Just checked it out on my 92 with the auto.
