Re: 82 T/A Two piece speedo cable?

The '82-83 F-bodies used the old style mechanical cruise control servos. The cable from the gauge goes into the top connection on the servo and the one from the transmission to the bottom. If the cables are just screwed together then there was most likely a problem with the cruise control and it was bypassed.

What is the problem? Are both cables good? If so, it could be in the cruise unit, I just recently took mine apart and found one of the gears inside had somehow moved on its shaft, I pressed it back in place and it works fine now. Otherwise you can get a cable for a non cruise car and install it, bypassing the cruise unit.

Sounds as if you're missing the transducer that Dens71 mentions above.

Chuck the issue with a one-piece cable.

Sorry, I don't.

My car has a one-piece and cruise. I'd think any one-piece of correct length, or thereabout, would do the trick. (BTW, I don't think that the replacement cable I purchased from GM a few years ago was the same length as the original.)
