battery not charging

My car is running at about 11.8 volts when no lights or radio on or anything. I put a new alternator in and new battery, all the connections are solid. The alternator is putting out 14-16 volts but there not getting to the battery. The power return cable also seems to be fine, i replaced the terminals on both ends. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

There can be only one reason for that, and it’s an open circuit.

Check the fusible link located at the junction block near the battery.

Fusible Links usually look like a one inch plastic rod in line with the wire.

Re: The Missing Link

I plan on replacing the fusible link along with the whole wire because when i took a look at it, along the whole wire the copper strands were charred probably causing resistance. What size inline fuse should i put into the wire though?

Re: The Missing Link

Use a 12 AWG fusible link.
