Speedometer and Tach

Hello all, so my car is running and so far, my voltage guage works but thats it. Today I tried to get the tach working with the dakota Digital SG-8 I have the SG-5 for the speedo. I thought I connected everything correctly, I even had a green light on the sg-8 at one point, but the tach never budged. I connected the white tach wire from the c100 to the output of sg-8 as the new pcm outputs my tach signal to input of sg-8. Am I getting this right? I set the 4 pins according to the instructions, but with no luck...

I also am still a bit unsure of where the speedo wire is, this is a 1992 so I dont think there is a buffer box. So I read somewhere.

Thanks.

Re: Speedometer and Tach

So I found the problem with my tach issue, I didnt have the sg-8 grounded properly. The tach works now, but it doesnt seem to read high enough. I changed the settings, but it didnt change much (will come back to this). Now for the speedometer. It looks as though my car is a Vin T V6 which looks as though the speedometer signal or vss is not coming out of the c100 like the 1992 v8 versions of this car, it looks like it just comes out under the dash in one of those 2 ecm plugs, red wire I think.

K4KAK, what problem are you having? Have you figured out what wires you need? Are you using the Dakota Digital SG-5 like I am going to?

On 90 - 92 cars with the '730 ECM ;
VSS ( Pur / Yel wires ) goes from trans direct to the ECM ( no buffer box like on earlier cars ), then a single wire output to the speedo in dash cluster

The '90 - '92 TBI cars used the 4-out buffer box.
