92 rs camaro ¿computer or memcal bad?
Ok, i bought a 92 camaro with the 3.1 engine (needed a fuel pump)
Replaced fuel pump, cleaned fuel rail and injectors and lines...
The ppl i bought the car from said it had a bad computer......
The car had 2 computers and 2 memcals in the car when i got it....
With either comp box hooked up i have the same issue, so i dont think its the actual computer box..
If i insert one memcal in, turn on ignition i get no code twelve and the fan kicks on as soon as the switch is on, the car WILL crank and runs(sh*tty), but runs....
If i put the other memcal in its place i get code twelve, no fan, and ?no fire/gas?....
Does anyone here have any idea as 2 what could possibly be wrong here????

sounds like a bad memcal, the azty is the best code for a 3.1L v6 with the 700r4 transmission. I have a few v6 memcals that would work or I could reprogram for you, let me know if you need assistance.

The one that will crank the car is axdh 0179
The other one is aujw 0976
Are either those the right #s for my car?

you can see if you are getting the vats signal from the passkey module too the ecm on the ecm pin f10 dark blue wire it should be 30hz 50-60 %

Re: 92 rs camaro ¿computer or memcal bad?
you might check that vats before you start buying unnecessary parts. You can check this with a vom that has the hz setting koeo or cranking.

Re: 92 rs camaro ¿computer or memcal bad?
I listed the testing above use a volt ohm meter with a hz setting with the key on engine off or cranking and see if you get a signal to the ecm pin f10 dark blue wire. You can bypass the key resister bye installing the correct resister across the harness see link below, and it may fix the issue.

Re: 92 rs camaro ¿computer or memcal bad?
Ok so the junkyard was a waste of time, and as far as vats goes, i went 2 a dealership, and found out the key was a #12, 6040 ohms?
Put 3 resistors together to get 5940, that should be within tolerance...
Plugged into harness clip.
Still nothing....
Any ideas?

Lol still not exactly 100% on where this dark blue wire is you speak of, there are at least 3 blue wires on the ecm..... And i dont wanna mess anything up by poking around in somethin i dont know anything about, Without doing some homework...
Are there any pics or illustraition of the ecm wiring...?

unplug the yellow or green connector on the ecm. this is for tpi but the input f10 is the same for vats.

Re: 92 rs camaro ¿computer or memcal bad?
Ok, now that is that, i dont believe the dmm i have has a setting to measure hz... Is there anything else can be done without measuring the hz?
Or am gonna have to run out and get a new multimeter?

Re: 92 rs camaro ¿computer or memcal bad?
I don't know that you can read the frequency any other way. If you get a vom with a hz setting you can see for sure if its a vats issue or not. If it is you can bypass it with a modulator or have the memcal reprogramed to remove the vats. I have reprogramed out the vats in my two vehicles.

Re: 92 rs camaro ¿computer or memcal bad?
Ok... Well leaning towards it being the vats module just based on the assumption i have everything but fuel.... I probably should have mention before, the car has a push button start wired inline to the starter....
Judging by what ive read on this site, I think it was a vats issue that the previous owner and "mechanic" misdiagnosed as a computer issue..
