Re: head ight dimmer switch

Remove the lower dash panel below the column, loosen the column mounting bolts and lower it a bit, remove the two 8mm bolts holding it to the column, unplug it, reverse.

OTOH, it is very likely it doesnt need replacing, if it is not adjusted properly it will not work, does the stalk click when you try to pull it for the high beams ? If it doesnt, it needs to be adjusted, the bolt cutouts on the switch are slotted so that it can be adjusted.

Yeah it probably needs adjusting, i've done it before without dropping the column, I forget whether it was by 1/4" ratchet, or wrench, or both, but it can be done, drop the lower panel, look up under there with a flashlight and feel around you'll find it.

Re: head ight dimmer switch

The rod that actuates the lever, which is the source of the clicking, commonly needs adjusting.

How is the rest of your steering column? Does it "flop" left/right or up/down? Does the tilt mechanism still work? I ask because when that stuff starts to fail, the Hi/Low is commonly affected.

Tilt steering wheel. Tilts up away from you/Tilts down towards you.

The rod doesnt adjust, and the rod is not the source of the click.

The switch needs adjusting or replacement.

And duh the the rod doesn't click. But what the rod is attached to the end IS the source of the click.

That is not what you said:

The lever is not the source, the rod is not the source.

As I already posted before your suggesting the rod, or the lever needs adjusting, is the SWITCH needs adjusting or replacement.

Re: head ight dimmer switch

As you get the idea while you see everyone arguing about the dumb stuff.. Check the adjustment of your switch.. You will see the rod that goes to it. Move the switch upwards toward the steering column. If you still don't get it to work, Replace that switch..
