new alternator?? or new wiring?
Ok for awhile now my cars been acting funny but tonight takes the cake.
For a few months now ive been driving my car and it gives off decent voltage for a week but then a week later or sometimes more it only stays at 13. Sometimes itll even get lower to about 10 but it never turns off. One day about a month ago i drove only 2 miles and stopped and when i went to turn on my car again it couldnt turn over. Dead battery.... was weird
I got a jump and it was fine. Car would stumble around and try to turn off at stop lights but i wouldnt let it. Now tonight i was driving home from work and my radio flickered on and off a few times and checked my volrag and it was in the red. I merged over and tried gunning it home but the car wouldnt let me
It just stumbled and i had to hold back so i can properly drie it home. I made my way off the freeway and checked my votalge to make sure it would not turn off and it was at tirteen volts. I thought how weird.
So could. I have a faulty alternator? Bad wiring? I have not swapped out cables on it. Any help is great thanks.
Ohh ivtested the alternator and it passed two diff stores but still fails to give me proper voltage

Re: new alternator?? or new wiring?
@ kens....mines the same. my battery is less then a year old and alternator just about the same as battery.
im just thinking of having my battery tested and possibly just have my friend warranty it out for me. then swap out the cable from the alt. to the distro block then the one from the distro to the battery. after that ill probably just have the alternator warrantied out and hope it doesnt act the same way. im sure the cables would let it but i just need to know about a proper gauge to put on it to get a good flow through my system.
